Physical Education Grading Policies and Procedures
Each
student will be taking three marking periods of Physical Education.
Each
student will be taking one marking period of Health.
Students
must pass 4 years of Health and Physical Education in order to graduate.
Grading
will be based on 100 points per marking period.
These
points will be broken down into three categories:
Performance Points:
60 points
Preparation Points:
30 points
Squad Points:
10 points
Performance
Points (60 points):
Each
student will be assessed based on his or her performance in specific areas.
These performance objectives may come in the form of proper technique,
knowledge of the activity, game rules, safety procedures, effort and
participation, demonstration of teamwork and sportsmanship.
Preparation
Points (30 points):
Each
student is required to follow the standards set for safe dress.
Failure
to follow these standards will result in point deduction.
*Students must change out of their school clothes for class and change back into their school clothes after class.
Students
must wear sneakers with shoelaces or straps.
(Students cannot wear
slip-on sneakers (no-laces), boots, “uggs” and any other shoe deemed
inappropriate by the Physical Education teacher.)
*Students
must wear a sweatshirt or a t-shirt with sleeves.
(Students cannot wear strapless tops, spaghetti-strap
tops, tank tops, belly
shirts, or any shirt with drug/ alcohol advertisements; offensive, vulgar or
inappropriate slogans, sayings or
drawings.)
*Students
must wear drawstring or elastic waist shorts or sweatpants.
(Students cannot wear jeans, shorts
or pants with zippers, buttons or belt loops.)
*Students
cannot wear hats, jewelry
considered unsafe or any items deemed unsafe or inappropriate by the physical
education teacher.
A
student completely unprepared for class will result in a 10 point deduction.
An accumulation of 4 unprepareds in a marking period will result in a
failure for the marking period. An
accumulation of 9 unprepareds for the year will result in a failure for the
year.
Squad
Points (10 points):
Students
must report to and sit down with his or her class when entering the gymnasium.
When
the whistle has been blown, students must line up in his or her squad.
Students
must be in his or her spot, on time, facing the teacher and paying attention or
points will be deducted.
The
teacher will take attendance, check for proper attire and begin stretches.
Students
are expected to stretch and exercise each day.
All
students must remain in his or her squad until the teacher has dismissed the
class.
